Formal Instructions: Term Paper & Class Presentation


Criminalistics, Fall 2014 – Letter of Instruction

This purpose of this document is to formalize the instruction regarding the Term Paper and Class Presentation which have been given informally during class.

Term Paper

Each student will submit a 10 page term paper which is due no later than the class of December 1, 2014. Students will select a book on any crime in history.  The paper should present the crime and then continue to the student’s analysis of the crime from the point of crime scene analysis and reconstruction.  Students are expected to use research material beyond the book; the primary source will be a book.  All sources must be cited in accordance with the APA.  Late papers will not be accepted.  Electronically submitted papers will not be accepted.  Papers not stapled, or otherwise bound, will not be accepted. 

Class Presentation

Students will give a presentation to the class on any topic in the crime scene / criminal justice field.  Students may present on the topic of the term paper.  The presentation should last 10 to 15 minutes.  Students may use any training aids they wish.  Any graphic material will be cleared with the instructed prior to the presentation.
